Questions we hear first

Twenty questions about cold, heat, power and paperwork, answered in plain words

These are the questions that arrive on WhatsApp before a layout is drawn: what it costs, whether the water really stays at 4 °C in April, what the building will say. If yours is missing, send it; the best answers on this page started as one message.

Money, in baht

How much does a cold plunge pool cost in Thailand?

A built-in pool with its refrigeration lands between 330k and 660k baht depending on shape, finish and access: round THB 330-590k, square with a travertine edge THB 370-660k. The budget ranges page shows every component.

What is the cheapest sauna you build?

The solo cabin, one seat, 1.2 x 1.1 m, at THB 205-275k with a Harvia heater. A two-seat glass cabin starts near 275k baht. We build up to twelve seats.

Do you quote in baht or in dollars?

Either. The website shows baht with a dollar hint at 36 baht per dollar; contracts for resorts and developers are often written in dollars, with the exchange date agreed at signing.

What is left out of the ranges?

Slab and structural works, cranes, a three-phase electrical upgrade, permits and VAT. Each appears as its own line in the quote, so nothing arrives later as a surprise.

Heat, humidity and the chiller

Can the water really stay at 4 °C when the air is 35 °C?

Yes, if the chiller is sized for it and the pool is shaded and insulated. Our sizing table assumes 35 °C air: one horsepower holds up to 260 litres, two hold 570, four hold 1,200. A pool in full sun with no pergola asks for more, and the layout tells you.

How long does the first cooling take?

A cubic metre of water from about 29 °C to 4 °C means removing about 29 kWh of heat, so plan an overnight run for the first fill. After that the unit only holds the temperature, which is why we put it on a timer.

Will cold pipes and pool edges drip?

Anything colder than the air's dew point sweats. In 32 °C air at high humidity the dew point is near 28 °C, so pipes are lagged with closed-cell insulation, coping is textured stone and the drains are sized for it.

Does a glass sauna work in a humid climate?

It does. The glass is tempered, often double-glazed on sun-facing walls, and the heater is sized with an allowance for the glass. The sauna itself is a dry room; humidity outside changes how you ventilate it, not whether it works. See glass saunas in the tropics.

Do you use teak inside the sauna?

Teak outside and on trim, cedar or similar low-density timber on benches, because very dense wood feels hotter on bare skin. The teak and thermowood note explains the choices.

Mains power, permits and committees

What power does a sauna heater need?

A 4.5 kW heater runs on a single-phase circuit (typically 220-230 V in Thailand). From about 8 kW heaters are normally wired three-phase (typically 380-400 V), which many villas and condos have to ask their utility for. Details in sauna power in Thailand.

Do we need a permit for an outdoor sauna or a pool?

That depends on the structure, the plot and the local office, and we do not guess. Ask your municipality, tambon administrative office or, in Bangkok, the district office whether a small outdoor structure or a pool this size needs a building permit or only a notification. We supply drawings for that conversation.

My condo's juristic person is nervous. What do we show them?

A two-page dossier: plan, structural loads, power, noise and maintenance. The condo guide lists what committees ask.

Time, freight and the island leg

How long between signing and the first session?

Five working days for the free 3D layout, six to ten weeks of production, up to seven days of installation. Count about three months from signature to the first cold plunge.

When should we order for the high season?

The busy months run from November to April, so the quiet window to build is May to October. On the Andaman coast that is also the monsoon, so we sequence wet works around the weather, as the Phuket page explains.

Do you deliver to the islands?

Yes. Phuket is connected by road; Samui adds a sea leg. We plan the route, the crating and the lifting before production starts and put it in the layout.

Cold, heat and common sense

Is a cold plunge safe for everyone?

No. Cold water can be dangerous for people with heart or circulation problems, and sauna heat has its own cautions. Ask your doctor, start with short sessions and never plunge alone after alcohol. We build the equipment and hand over a plain safety notice for the pool area.

Can children use the sauna or the pool?

Not as a routine. Children need much shorter, cooler sessions with an adult present, and cold plunges are not for them. The handover notice says so in the language of your guests.

Warranty, service and who to call

What does the warranty cover?

Everything we build for two years, plus a further year of assisted service visits. Harvia heaters also carry their maker's own warranty.

Who looks after the equipment on Samui or in Krabi?

Start with photos and a video call, which fixes most things quickly; where a visit is needed, it is scheduled through the first-year service plan. The handover sheet tells your housekeeping team what to check weekly.

Can you run a hotel's 16-hour day?

Yes. The cold side is built for up to sixteen hours of use a day, with two chillers in parallel on shared pools, a hygiene plan and a written routine. See hospitality and clubs.
